Before reading this book, I hadn’t considered how or why Prohibition happened.

The pool was closed - The Sonder’s lobby seems to share elevators with the Nyack College next door - There is a cabinet in the lobby where guests can replenish at least some of their room consumables (e.g. However, the tables and chairs were not clean when I visited. That having been said, as others have noted, the Battery Park Sonder does have a doorman on duty at all times - The view from the rooftop lounge/pool/open space is pretty nice.

The Sonder app gives you the room number and door code two days prior to the start of your stay. I could also watch the sunset from my room - The mattress and pillows were comfortable and I had no real trouble falling asleep Other notes: - There is no check-in to speak off. I could see Battery City and the west side highway from my window.

The hallway contained two closets, the full kitchen, the washer/dryer, and the door to the toilet/bath - Thankfully, my room view was not blocked by the building next door.
WiFi speed was fine - The configuration of the room is that of an L, with a long hallway leading to the bedroom proper.

I had no problem streaming Netflix from my device to the TV at 1080p (HD). I wish the TV’s screen size and resolution were larger and cable and broadcast channels also available. You get your entertainment by streaming from your personal devices and subscriptions (e.g. There are no broadcast or cable channels.

Notes regarding the room’s hard inventory: - All the dishes and cups are oven and microwave safe (I asked, through the app, because I wasn’t sure) - The tub has a no slip surface.( I would have preferred separate shower and tub or just a shower if I cannot have both) - While the room has printed instructions on how to operate the oven/microwave combo and other appliances, I still found myself going to the internet to find the instruction manual for the oven/microwave - What amounts to the room’s dining/working table is pretty tiny - The TV was a somewhat older model.

It was very clean, the design was contemporary, and also fully stocked as advertised - full size refrigerator, washer and dryer, combo oven/microwave, dishwasher, shower/tub, queen sized bed, side tables, a seating area, good towels, toiletries, hangers, pots and pans, utensils, plates, trash bags, pods, etc., etc. Did a two week stay early October 2021 in a studio booked directly through the Sonder app.
